Introduction to English literature The word literature is derived from a ‘Latin’ word ‘Literatura’ which means writing . Many of the writers have defined literature from the very first day to up till now but their words cannot be taken as final because in every age, era, time and date everyone got a different perspective and personal point of view accordingly their lively timings. So far, if we talk about literature anything that can be well understood is literature. According to my notion,   literature gives us recognition not only to ourselves but also about who we are,   where we came from, who were our ancestors etc. Some figure of researches has shown out different parameters to add some more definitions to the literature.
